Choose stackable banquet chairs as a complete storage and handling system. The chair must work for guests, but the approved stack must also fit its cart, clear the storage doorway, and allow staff to retrieve the right quantity. Separate the seated chair from the stored stack

Stacked chairs may shift backward as the stack grows, so single-chair depth is insufficient for storage planning. Examine the points where chairs touch
Ask the supplier to demonstrate stacking with production-equivalent samples. Look at which surfaces contact the chair below, where staff place their hands, and whether the upholstery touches neighboring hardware during ordinary handling.
Check whether stack protectors or other contact components can be identified and replaced. Ask what inspection is required before stacking and what damage means the chair should be set aside for review.

Draw storage positions with working access
Use measured loaded-cart dimensions and mark enough access for the actual retrieval method. Include door swings, fixed equipment, and a place to hold chairs awaiting cleaning or inspection. Review room access alongside your clearance plan.
Compare ordinary and peak storage conditions. On a full event day, furniture displaced from a room may arrive in the storeroom at the same time that reserve chairs are needed. Test this overlap on paper before assuming every nominal floor position is usable.
Buy the system that passes the trial
Summarize approved chair configuration, stack method, cart model, storage positions, and observed handling cycle. Use those observations when planning setup staffing, rather than assigning a universal chairs-per-person rate.
